Hello There!
Have a guess what! I made you a soap tutorial!
It was 2016 and the scent of ylang ylang and rose geranium infused shea butter and the whir of the stick blender had me hooked. I fell in love with the alchemy of transforming liquid oils into a hard bar of creamy sudsy soap.
I proceeded to make a lot of soap. It became my full time business.
Soon I was mixing and making and packing and posting orders all over Australia and occasionally beyond. I am so grateful to all my gorgeous and loyal customers who purchased my products over and over again.
By the end of 2023 though I was done. Exhausted. My spark had all but gone out. I needed a rest. So I did. The last year has been a review and a reset of what’s important to me and how I’d like to live my life as I head into my 50’s.
The values of creativity, joy, comfort and connection are still my guiding principles. My family is my world. My home is my center. Nature is my solace. And I wilt if I’m not being creative in some way.
So here we are with this weekly newsletter - Apple & Radish Chronicles!
The world out there seems nuts. I can’t fix what’s going on ‘out there’ but I can do a lot ‘in here’ with you, my reader friend, by being creative together, making beautiful things, and sharing the light.
Drum roll please……
After making soap to sell (and closely guarding my secret recipes, tips and tricks) I’m now sharing EVERYTHING I know with you!!!
Here is my Soap Mini-Makeshop!!! Using the cold process technique.
This is the same base recipe I used for many of the soaps I sold in my business. It makes a luscious, creamy, buttery soap that your skin will LOVE! It’s enriched with shea butter, olive oil, soothing clay and essential oils.
If you’ve never made soap before this is a beginner friendly guide that walks you through the process step by step. You’ll end up with a lovely batch of Spring Meadow Soap.
Soap making is a very pleasurable addiction hobby. And it’s a useful skill to have. We’re losing the old skills our grandmothers knew. I’m bringing them back - but making it fun!
Handmade soap is always a welcome gift and with Christmas coming this may be a way to fill some stockings with luxury gifts without breaking the bank.
Without further ado here’s how to make Spring Meadow Shea Butter Soap…..
